I would strongly urge at minimum you wear a lifejacket when docking, locking through, and in inclement weather.  Also, just as a side note, any children under 12 years old on vessels less than 19’ long MUST be wearing a lifejacket per RCW 79A.60.160.

Lifejackets are a simple way to set a good example for other boaters, ensure the safety of yourself your crew and your guests, and live to sail another day.
