Thanks to all of you our club is thriving. We have 11 new members and several members have renewed their membership. Thank you all for helping me reach my new membership goal which is 25 new members this year. In fact, Carrie Carson is responsible for 6 of our new members. I am going to propose to the OYC board that the member that brings in the most new members will receive a free membership for the following year. So game on----you have until the end of the year to bring more members to the club than Carrie. Remember that your friends do not have to own a boat to join the club. I also want to remind you that your membership comes with discounts at Fishery Supply. At checkout just tell them you are a member of OYC and then receive your discount.
Rusty is busy improving our website. In addition to our scheduled rendezvous members will be able to post a OYC meet-up on the site. For example, Jodine and I are posting a meet up on Sucia Island on August 25. Sucia is our favorite island in the San Juans. There is a campsite on the Echo Bay side that has the most amazing view of Mt. Baker. We will be posting details closer to the event but we can gather at the campsite for a potluck and fire while the sunset reflects off Mt. Baker.
Ex-Officio Mike Marquand is selling advertisement space on our website. If you have interest in advertising, please get in contact with him. Remember you have access to contact information for all members by logging into our member only area of our website.
The club is healthy financially. We are currently tallying our income and expenditures and coming up with a budget for next year.
Thanks to all that attend our “Deadliest Catch” Crab rendezvous in Brownsville. Jodine and I had an amazingly fun weekend with everyone. We are looking forward to Rusty and Scott’s Hillbilly Hoe ‘down coming up in August.
It is wonderful seeing all the pictures on Facebook of people having fun on their boats. Wishing you fair winds and following seas,
Your Vice Commodore,
